Hi Tony,
S> actors are in them, same production values...and you don't really get
I don't seem to watch enough Canadian shows to spot the regularly
working Canadian actors. Or, should I say the actors that regularly
work in Canada? OTOH, you're right that the _Andromeda_ production
values should have given me a clue.
Speaking of production values, have you run across anyone who has
watched the British mini-series version of _Neverwhere_?
I liked the book, and I recently spotted the DVD box set. Looking it
up on imdb.com turned up an interesting factoid. The female lead in
_Neverwhere_ went on to do a nice job playing the blacksmith/armorer
in the movie _Knight's Tale_. However, one of the drawbacks mentioned
in the user reviews of _Neverwhere_ was that the production values
were not overly good.
I guess it's a question of whether the story and the acting can
overcome the BBC production values. For example, look at all the
fans that the _Doctor Who_ series has.
S> 'a-list american tv actors' you get people like kevin sorbo.
S> show...because it's 'not a reality show'
I agree with him, whoever he is.
Beats me. From common usage, I got the impression that shows like
_Survivor_, _Big Brother_, _The Bachelor_ et cetera ad naseum were
all lumped together as "reality television".
Of course, my experience of the common usage of the term is limited to
hearing a couple morning radio disk jockeys go on and on about them.
I'm happy to say that none of my close friends spend their time
watching that stuff. We waste _our_ time in much classier ways, such
as watching SF and Fantasy. ;-)
Oh yeah, you're a Tarantino fan, right? ...I just bought
_Kill Bill volume I_. Did you go to see volume II in the theatre?
If so, how do you think they compare?

What recently surprised me was finding out that the SF show
_Andromeda_ is a "Canadian show", but I think it may mainly qualify
because of being filmed in Canada.
S> it didn't suprise me. you can smell canadian shows a mile off. same_Andromeda_ is a "Canadian show", but I think it may mainly qualify

By the way, how _did_ the term "reality television" get applied to
television shows like _Survivor_? :-/
S> mark burnett certainly doesn't like that term referring to thetelevision shows like _Survivor_? :-/
