What movies are you looking forward to watching?
S> i just picked up 'sin city' and 'team america: world police' on dvd.
but
S> i've got close to a dozen on dvd i haven't seen yet.

I've certainly seen "Sin City" DVDs all over the place, but I haven't
noticed the other. I'll have to check the reviews at imdb.com
sometime.

Other than buying the box sets of a couple older TV series, as they
come out, my DVD purchasing seems to finally be slowing down. There
are only a few older movies that I still want on DVD, and the only new
movie that I'm waiting for is "Serenity" -- which apparently did a
fantastic job of carrying on the story from the "Firefly" TV series.

S> i have several movies taped from scream, action, and drive-in i haven't
S> seen yet...

Some of those networks are from the Digital Cable package, aren't
they? I'll confess that I'm almost getting tempted by regular cable,
now that it's down to $25 a month.

...Right now, the only show that I
really like on broadcast TV is "Grey's Anatomy". Good ensemble cast,
decent writing with even a smidge of character development. (I'll
confess that I found it by accident while checking out "Desperate
Housewives", but now "GA" is the one I make sure I watch.)

S> some of the movies coming up on the movie network: 'the grudge' and other

While I'm a little curious about "Life after Buffy" for SMG, I've
resisted buying "The Grudge" because it looks more like classic horror
genre. The thing I liked about "Buffy" was that the main characters
were not victims, even tho it was a horror show.

S> all before any star wars movie...

Well, the last one is not high on my list. Still, I guess I want
"closure" or something. <wry.grin> Meanwhile, another reason to give
in and get cable is to be able to occasionally "test drive" new movies
when they reach TV/DVD release, along with checking new SF TV series.
I came "that close" to buying the new "BattleStar Galactica" box set,
but then found it had very mixed reviews at imdb.com.

BTW, I recently watched the original theatrical release of the first
"Star Wars" movie, and I still like it much better than the director's
cuts. ...I'll now use restraint and refrain from a long rant about
not being able to buy DVDs of the original theatrical releases of
movies like "Blade Runner".
The problem is when you're reading a few high volume newsgroup,
S> i am, but i no longer spool them. i've only ever spooled them on linux,

Figures. ...One more benefit of having a high speed connection.

S> not windows (that i recall)
Are you using FAT partitions?
S> not any longer...

Maybe I should be asking whether you're still running Win2k?

not any longer there either. the win2k box is now a suse 10 box. the
new machine is unfortunately an xp machine. and it will stay that way
until the warranty runs out (2 years or so) ...then it'll be whatever
the current suse is.

i'm very serious about not being hampered by microsoft any further...
