Two things...
The gateway cannot be run automagically and still screen out UseNet
"spam and smut" to accepted FidoNet standards. I know this seems an
archaic attitude, but FidoNet message area standards still apply.
The real problem was my computer activities changing and my Linux
version becoming an antique, which combined to the point that I was
only booting to Linux to run the mailer and gateway.
So, a bash script in the cron config would not help. What surprises
me is how small an extra task can become "going out of one's way", tho
it usually worked out alright because I faithfully check for messages
that need "gating". Unfortunately, if I mess-up and then don't run
Linux for a while, then...
